Atlanta native Tony Thompson organized a singing emsemble in 1977, calling the group New Creation. After a few years break for boarding school and some college work, Tony and a few members of the original New Creation rekindled the musical fire and in 1999 evolved to the gem that the world now enjoys…
Atlanta’s Chorale — New Creation.
A proud product of Atlanta’s Seventh-day Adventist elementary and secondary schools, he completed a bachelor’s degree in music education and performance at Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama. A member of Atlanta’s Maranatha Seventh-day Adventist Church, Tony also serves part-time on the music staff at Berean Seventh-day Adventist Church in Atlanta. For the past few years, however, Tony’s labor of love has been rehearsing and touring with New Creation.
Tony, not surprisingly, hails from a musical family. He was inspired to pursue music at an early age. When he was four, Tony’s grandmother taught him “It’s Gonna Rain” to perform in church with his older brother, John, accompanying. The congregation’s enthusiastic reception of the young duo’s debut left the preschool-aged performer eager for more. The affection he felt from the congregation that day was a formative experience. His calling had been found. The rest is history. Tony Thompson has been rendering unto enthusiastic audiences ever since.
